What is the MaxiMiseR project?
The EU and other industrialised countries have pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% by 2030, and by 80-95% by 2050.
Member States in the EU must each produce a ‘Low Carbon Development Strategy’ (LCDS) to show how they will do so over the long-term. However, it is not clear what information must be included in LCDS, nor is it clear what role the auctioning revenues from the EU Emission’s Trading System could play in funding the implementation of these plans.
Ensuring that national long term strategies such as LCDS are of a high quality and ambitious and developed in a participative transparent manner is key to meeting the EU’s emissions reductions goals.
Helping this to happen is the aim of the MaxiMiseR project.
